About the company
The story of Aleph Wines Corporation cannot be told without giving a little background of its Founder and CEO, Jean-Pierre Chambas.
Jean-Pierre Chambas was born in Cahors in the Southwest of France. After attending boarding school run by Jesuits in nearby Montauban, he stayed in higher education through graduation from law school in Toulouse in 1971. In March 1972, Chambas moved to the U.S. and went to work at the Wine and Cheese Cellar in Columbia, where he stayed until 1980. The next year he started Associated Wine Distributors, which he sold to Southern Wine & Spirits of Miami in 1993.
After the sale, Chambas worked in Columbia for SWS for four years and then left for the Caribbean and to create his own wine distributorship based in St. Thomas, USVI, named Premier Wines and Spirits. Jean-Pierre moved back to South Carolina in September 1999. On New Year’s Day 2000, Jean-Pierre opened Aleph Wines Corporation with his daughter Ingrid.
Jean-Pierre is a veteran of the industry. He and Ingrid are consumer advocates, first and foremost. The company’s mission is to represent and promote the finest quality wines, craft beers, and craft spirits from all over the world. Based in Columbia, the company services the entire state of South Carolina. Aleph’s knowledgeable staff and sales representatives strive to bring products that our customers actually want and need, not what a corporate quota dictates.
The warehouse is kept at cellar temperature in order to preserve the quality and integrity of our products. Aleph’s delivery trucks are climate controlled as well, ensuring that products arrive to customers in pristine condition.
