Records indicate the property was founded in 1679 by the Governor of the Cape, Simon van der Stel. He had an understanding of viticulture and fostered a winemaking tradition that has grown over the centuries. In the early 1980’s John Platter, of the eponymous Wine Guide, bought the property and named it Delaire. In 2003, Laurence Graff, Chairman of Graff Diamonds International, acquired the property and renamed it Delaire Graff Estate. Morne Very is the winemaker.\u003cbr\u003e\nThe vineyards perch atop the slopes of Botmaskop Peak and were replanted in 2003 with varietals matched to specific parcels.
