About this event

New France is excited to partner with the German Wine Collection to feature some of the great producers of Germany. Join us at the New France Warehouse on March 4th for the German Wine Collection Trunk Show featuring Amy Waller and the New France Team. Wines from the following producers will be open along with snacks.

Reinhold Haart - Mosel
The Haart family viticultural tradition dates back to 1337 in Piesport, Johannes is the 20th generation. 20TH!!!! Only 9ha in exclusively steep sites around Piesport (Goldtröpfchen, Grafenberg, Ohligsberg) and ONLY Riesling. Hand harvested, cool fermentation with natural yeasts, the wines are extraordinarily fresh even many years after bottling. Certified Fair’N’Green.

Kuhling-Gillot- Rheinhessen
Elevator Pitch is coming, but the Carolin is the wife of Hans Oliver of Battenfeld Spanier. Same dedication to meticulous farming Biodynamically. However where Battenfeld is concentrated to vines growing in the Wonnegau (southern portion with Limestone based soils), many of her vines are located around Nierstein in the north which is famous for the "Roter Hang" or red slopes.

Sekthaus Raumland- Rheinhessen
The ORIGINAL high-quality Sekt estate in Germany ~ organic and exclusively dedicated to Sekt production, working with Riesling, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc. Volker Raumland established the estate in the early 80’s and has been a leader in developing VDP Sekt statues, in existence today. His two daughters, Katharina and Marie-Luise have ‘bubbles in their veins’ running the estate now and continuing their father’s legacy.

Rebholz - Pfalz
Their last name, Rebholz, literally translates to ‘wood of the vine’, they were making dry wines in Germany before it was cool. This biodynamic estate in the southern Pfalz is focused on expressing the terroir around their village of Siebeldingen (limestone, sandstone, loess, slate) with a focus on mineral-driven Rieslings and Pinot Blancs. Currently led by twin brothers, Valentin and Hans, the wines are focused and elegant.

Salwey - Baden
Weingut Salwey, located in the southwest of Germany (the sunniest and warmest region of the country) produces dry white and red wines in the heart of an extinguished volcanic belt known as Kaiserstuhl, with a specialty in Pinot Gris (Grauburgunder). They are practicing organic (soon-to-be certified), using native yeast fermentation, hand-picking everything and there is no fining or filtration.

Shafer-Frohlich - Nahe
Racy and mineral-focused with a softness and elegance can only come from the Nahe.

About the company

We're a small company that specializes in niche producers who make great wine. New France Wine Company has been in Minnesota since 1990.

New France Wine Company has a large and eclectic portfolio, focusing on France, Italy, and Spain, but with an eye toward value in all parts of the world, including domestic, Portugal, Australia, and elsewhere. All of our imported wines are domaine-bottled, and we strive to work with producers who are the best at their craft.

We're wine people first and salespeople second; we hand-sell all of our wine, working with retailers and restaurants to find what's right for them.
