About the company

Palinkerie/Fine Hungarian Imports is a New York-based import company specializing in fine wines from Hungary. We were the first 100% Hungarian importer and distributor of wines in New York. We work hard to bring our customers the most exciting products emerging from one of Europe’s most distinctive cultures for food and drink.

Often described as the agricultural heart of Europe, Hungary has been producing wine for nearly 1000 years. Today the Hungarian landscape is flush with tiny, family-run wineries whose wines reflect an authenticity that can be hard to find elsewhere. Our collection represents our favorite finds from Hungary’s current wine scene: hand-crafted, small batch natural wines from distinctive grapes reflecting Hungary’s diverse microclimates.

All of the wines we choose reflect a commitment to organic farming practices, good labor practices and minimal cellar intervention. We also place a particular focus on wines made from native Hungarian varieties and wines that express Hungary's world-class terroirs.

We founded our company in 2013 to share the proud legacy and exciting development of Hungarian wine with consumers in the US. Hungarian wine presents distinctive terroirs to unearth; fresh flavors to enjoy; rare grapes to pronounce (or mispronounce); and a new world of memories to create.

Welcome to the new old world.
