Smith & Hook
An important part of our family for over 35 years, Smith & Hook has stood for spirited, layered and luscious wines that could only be made from California’s independent-minded Central Coast.
We blazed the trail by converting a cattle ranch and growing Cabernet in the region long before almost anyone else. We’ve been here since the beginning, building relationships with small, family-owned vineyards throughout the region known for their prized quality fruit. The result is signature Smith & Hook, vintage after vintage.
Our experienced winemaking team chooses vineyards planted in the warmer regions of the Central Coast. Warmer temperatures eliminate green flavors, instead bringing out decadent and complex dark fruit elements. After harvest, we barrel-ferment Smith & Hook in French oak, beautifully melding each vineyard’s distinctive flavors into a robust and richly layered blend.
