This trip was for an internship facilitated by the American Scandinavian Foundation and allowed him to work in the Isbrandsten Steamship Company, after which he was sent to Chile for two years to supervise iron ore exports.\r\n\r\n1955: Soren moved back to Denmark, after three years abroad. He married Ingrid, who was Miss Denmark in 1953.\r\n\r\n1956: Soren Axelsen had to travel to New York for the second time, looking to be part of the operations for the importation of Tuborg beer into the United States. This trip was his first significant involvement in the liquor industry.\r\n\r\n1972: Soren Axelsen started growing vineyards in Monterey, California. The wine was sold to the American market and exported to European buyers as well.\r\n\r\n1980: Axelsen founded the Cabernet Corporation. This new investment was to function as a marketing arm for California wines in bulk, exporting high-end wines to company clients.\r\n\r\n1986: Axel’s Cabernet Corporation had to look for alternative sources of wine due to increased production costs in the 80s. The increase in expenses resulted in higher market prices that the European markets were unwilling to pay.\r\n\r\n1988: Soren saw a distinct similarity in Chilean and American geography and weather, and started vineyards in Chile after seeing the opportunity to invest in the country with Augusto Pinochet out of office as well, with the nation promising to be an excellent place to set up a firm. Soren sold his first high-quality Chilean Cabernet to Danish buyers. There was a distinct concern from his clients concerning the rising prices of Cal.\r\n\r\n1990: Eric and Peter Axelsen joined the Axel brand as co-CEOs. In establishing a family legacy in the global business arena, this was a critical step that saw the brand grow in popularity for its high-end wines.\r\n\r\n2010: The thirtieth anniversary of working together as a family is celebrated, bringing the cohesiveness of family to a functional global brand. Three decades of assured quality at friendly prices is a testament to the credibility of the Axel brand.\r\n\r\nPresent: Our wines are gracefully aged in American and French Oak barrels, each for eight months. The scene for the first stage begins with the vineyard. Harvesting follows. Then finally, the grape is brought into the winery to be treated under the best winemaking techniques. These special moments conclude when the entire process delivers a wine that embodies the personality of its region. Familia Belasco has been doing this for eight generations. The vineyards were planted in 1910 on soils of alluvial origin with a pebbly subsoil and sandy-silty-clay sediments. This, together with a high plantation density and the work of our technical team ensures very low yields and top-quality grapes, with all the properties and typical characteristics of the Malbec varietie. Together with the work undertaken in restoring the vineyards, various tending practices are applied during the growth cycle to assure optimum quality berries.\r\n\r\nThe Belasco de Baquedano winery applies the most advanced meanss for carrying out every process involved in making its wines. For instance, the winery is equipped with a cold room to adapt berry temperature after picking and a manual selection line. The grapes are vatted through gravity, without pumpoing, to ensure the berries arrive undamaged in the tank. Vinification is carried out in French oak vats and small stainless steel tanks, with cold and hot temperature regulation. The winery also has vertical presses, small air-conditioned casks rooms where malactic fermentation takes place and French oak casks for ageing","logo_url":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/media.sevenfifty.com/producers_supplier_company_profiles/logos/medium/2151/Belasco_de_Baquedano.png?1589576581","profile_url":"/b/belasco-de-baquedano"},{"name":"Clark Estate","description":"Sauvignon Blanc\r\n\r\nThe Upper Awatere is known for its rugged soils, unforgiving climate, and stunning Sauvignon Blanc flavors. They prospered and became distinguished citizens of their new country. In 1768 Domingo Eyzaguirre was appointed mayor of the capital city of Santiago.\r\n\r\nHis son, Domingo Eyzaguirre II, planted some of the first vines from French rootstock in that region and founded the Vino de Eyzaguirre near a village built by monks from a nearby Franciscan monastery.\r\n\r\nAt first the wine was “bottled” in sturdy, 15-liter earthenware chuicos, which survived the bumpy trip by horse-drawn cart from the village to the monastery. When the winery switched to much smaller glass bottles, however, breakage became a problem. To protect their precious cargo, the monks took to wrapping the bottles in burlap sacks. The idea caught on with the winery and became a tradition that has endured to this day.\r\n\r\nWe began production of our Vino de Eyzaguirre back in the 1990s, and during this time labor laws in Chile made it very difficult to package our handcrafted burlap-wrapped wines. Originally a crew of men were not capable of producing a finished product which was tightly wound and properly sewn together. Due to this difficult production process our winery was one of the first to employ women in a manufacturing role throughout this otherwise rural part of Chile. To this day we still have five dedicated salaried women wrapping, pasting and packaging our wine by hand.","logo_url":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/media.sevenfifty.com/producers_supplier_company_profiles/logos/medium/2147/OriginalLogo-Large.png?1589489610","profile_url":"/b/eyzaguirre"},{"name":"La Playa","description":"Focused on pure varietal character - La Playa wines are estate grown and bottled and have maintained the same family ownership since 1980.
