The ambition behind Zymology Wine Collective was born of a thirst to bring what we love about wine to our clients in Illinois while building a cooperative atmosphere in which the members of our team are the owners of the company. Achieving this goal comes down to building strong personal relationships within the trade, by offering the highest quality, boutique level product at extremely competitive prices.

At Zymology we love authentic wine being made by passionate, honest producers who are dedicated to maintaining and building upon a rich history of plying a trade that has existed for millennia. The wineries we work with are family owned, some for generations yet others by winemakers who are defying the odds in order to satisfy a burning passion to make wine.

The founders of Zymology have worked in and around this industry at many different levels for most of their lives. They felt it was paramount to create a collegial work environment for other passionate wine professionals, who deserve the opportunity be a part of building a company that will provide them with more than just a paycheck by empowering them to literally take ownership of their careers.

None of this works however without the commitment we make to our clients in the trade and ultimately the consumer. A fundamental element of the most enduring businesses is to provide overwhelming value and service. Zymology pursues this precedent by working directly with our wineries to negotiate pricing that is mutually beneficial and sustainable for themselves all the way down to the consumer. We do not buy product from domestic brokers and we source our imports from all corners of the globe. This commitment allows Zymology to bring superior wines to market at 15-20% less than wholesalers who remain tethered to what we believe is an outmoded business model.

We realize there are dozens and dozens of wine wholesalers in Illinois competing for your attention, some of whom I’m sure are great and you’ve probably worked with for years. Still others might be unwilling to change what seems to be working because, well it’s working. But if you’re a restaurateur, sommelier or shop owner who is equally passionate about wine and the value you pass on to your customers it might be worth your time to sit down with us taste some wine and have a discussion that is likely have a positive effect on your bottom line.
